Göksu Delta guide: birdwatching and nature
Formed where the Göksu River meets the Mediterranean, the Göksu Delta is one of Türkiye's most important wetlands. A Specially Protected Area included on the list of wetlands of international importance, the delta is about 1 hour from our hotel.
Birdwatching
The delta is home to hundreds of bird species and lies on migration routes. Around the Akgöl and Paradeniz lagoons you can see flamingos, herons and many other waterbirds. The delta's emblem is the purple swamphen.
The best times for birdwatching are the spring and autumn migration seasons and the early morning hours.
Sea turtles
The delta's beaches are among the places where sea turtles nest. During the nesting season, please follow the signs on the beaches and do not use lights at night.
