The best bays and beaches for swimming in Mersin

Mersin's western coast is where the Taurus Mountains meet the sea, a shoreline full of winding bays. Stretching from Erdemli to Anamur, it offers both wide sandy beaches and quiet coves shaded by pine trees. Here are the best swimming spots you can reach on a day trip from Yanışlı bay, home to our hotel.

Kızkalesi

One of Mersin's best-known beaches, Kızkalesi is ideal for families with children thanks to its fine sand and shallow water. Rising from an island just offshore, the Maiden's Castle (Kız Kalesi) is the symbol of the area. It can get busy in summer, so we recommend going early in the morning.

Narlıkuyu

Just west of Kızkalesi, Narlıkuyu is a small bay known for its clear water and seaside fish restaurants. After your swim, you can also visit the nearby Heaven and Hell sinkholes (Cennet ve Cehennem).

Boğsak Bay

Lying between Taşucu and Aydıncık, Boğsak is a picture-perfect bay with a small island facing the shore and calm water. The sea is usually still, making it a peaceful stop for swimming and relaxing by the water.

Tisan Bay

On the coast between Silifke and Gülnar, Tisan is a striking bay framed by rocks, with turquoise water. It's a lovely choice if you're looking for a beach day away from the crowds.

Yanışlı bay

Home to our hotel, Yanışlı bay is surrounded by pine forests, with a Blue Flag beach and a pier where you can swim at any time of day. Sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach are included in your stay, and the outdoor pools and aquapark are right next to you.

Which bay suits whom?

  • Families with young children: shallow, sandy Kızkalesi
  • Those seeking peace and quiet: Boğsak and Tisan
  • A fish dinner after your swim: Narlıkuyu
  • A beach day with all-inclusive comfort: Yanışlı bay

Practical tips

  • Wear water shoes in rocky bays.
  • In summer, stay out of the midday sun and drink plenty of water.
  • Help protect the bays' natural beauty; take your rubbish with you.
  • The sea is at its warmest from June to October; see our weather and sea temperature guide for details.
